This bronze from Renée Sintenis 1888-1965 always refers to the boxer as Erich Brandl, but it is most likely that the sitter was the boxer Max Schmeling (1905-2005). A boxer Erich Brandl is unknown.
Max Schmeling was model to the painter George Grosz (1893 - 1959) and the sculptor Josef Thorak (1889 - 1952), Rudolf Belling (1886 - 1972) and Ernesto de Fiori (1884 - 1945).
Signed: R. Sintenis. Foundry: H. Noack, Berlin. The statue was cast in 1925.
