How do you go about selling an art object through the Nitsche Gallery?
Our gallery deals in paintings, sculptures, antiques, furniture and works
of art from the 17 th, 18 th, 19 th and early 20th centuries. We specialize in
European and American/Canadian works of art, and we are always interested to
view pieces for possible buy or consignment.

Before contacting us about your painting or sculpture, please answer as many of
these questions as possible:

What is the artist's name or initials?

What is the medium of the work? Is it an oil painting? On canvas or wood panel?
A watercolor on paper? A drawing? Is it marble or bronze or another material?

What is the size of the work, not including the frame or base?
-
Is the work signed? On the front, back or bottom? Does it have a title?

What is the subject matter? American or European scene? Is the scene located?

Are there any labels or inscriptions on the reverse?

What is the provenance of the work? Where did it come from?
-
What is the condition of the work? Has it been cleaned or repaired?

How much do you want to sell it for?
For other works of art and for furniture, you may consider the following
questions:

What is it? Does it have a mark or a signature?

What is the material? If it is furniture, what type of wood is it?
-
What are the dimensions of the work? (Height, length and width)
-
What is the provenance of the work? Where did it come from?
-
What is the condition of the work? Has it been cleaned or repaired?

How much do you want to sell it for?
Once you have the answers to these questions, please contact the gallery by
e-mail in filling out the Submit your Artwork form. Digital photos can be sent with this
form. It is also possible to send your information along with photos by mail.
What happens once the gallery receives the information?
We will contact you as soon as possible and let you know if we are
interested in buying your furniture or work of art or in having it on
consignment. We will set up an appointment to bring your work to us for view.
